Let's Get to know Allen!

G’Day Allen, stoked to have you on board with us! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Allen Delao and I'm a 23 year old living in San Diego, California. I grew up in a small beach town called Ocean Beach where I spent most of my free time surfing and skateboarding. I'm a photographer and videographer who’s extremely inspired by surf and skate culture. I attended Grand Canyon University in Arizona to pursue a bachelor's degree in graphic design and advertising. After graduating, I moved back to San Diego to do freelancing work and create fun content for my brand, Wavey Visuals.

Tell us more about ‘Wavey Visuals’?

Growing up, my friends called me Wavey because of my curly hair which inspired the name of my current portfolio. Wavey Visuals was created to showcase my designs, photography, and videography. Most of my work consists of photography with the occasional incorporation of illustrations to provide a unique and refreshing appearance.

What does a weekend of good vibes look like for you?

An ideal weekend full of good vibes consists of surf, skate, and quality time with friends. You can catch me surfing and skating around Ocean Beach almost every Saturday morning. After my morning dip, I typically link up with friends to finish off the day with some acai bowls at Sunset Cliffs.

How and when did you first hear about Penny Skateboards?

I initially heard about Penny from one of my best friends, who at the time owned a small neon pink penny. I remember being intimidated by the small size, but once I entered college I knew it was time to invest in a quality board that’s compact in size. Now I’m a huge Penny advocate who can’t imagine riding anything else.

Which Penny board of yours do you love most?

I currently own six Penny boards, and my all-time favorite is the surf skate. I find it difficult to switch back to my other boards because of its superiority. Carving the streets feels like surfing which makes it all that better.
